Junior High Students tell about Baptism:
The Junior High Sunday School class has been learning about Believer’s Baptism. We have had talks with the Pastor, Jen Bartholomew, Jason and Glenn DuPaul and others about the meaning and significance of Baptism.
Questions were answered such as:
· Is the water cold or are there bugs in it?
· Do you feel different when you are baptized?
· Did anyone pressure you to get baptized?
· What made you decide it was time to be baptized?
The students were asked to write a personal response about what baptism means to each of them. Here are their responses:
v Baptism means that you’ve given your life for Jesus and you’ll do the work for God. Baptism means you show your life is based on God.
v Baptism means when you accept Christ into your life.
v It means that you are more dedicated to God. And you might be closer to Him after you are baptized. You can have the choice of when you can be baptized so it gives you freedom for when you are ready.
v Well, baptism to me means to give your body to Christ. And He cleans your body of all of your sins. When you do it, you accept God into your life.
v Baptism means that you have accepted Jesus Christ into your soul as the Savior. Baptism by immersion is a public confession of your faith.
v What baptism means to me is that you are dedicating yourself to Jesus and God’s will, or something like that. IDK.
All of the students asked to remain anonymous. Just in case you do not text message your friend, IDK means- I don’t know. The students are thinking about important issues in their faith journey. Please, be a partner with them on this journey. Talk with them.
