From the Pastor's Desk: May 2021
We will be doing a Bible study on “the Church” and will be using a number of references for our discussion. I am including the list of references - feel free to look them up ahead of time and bring them along when we zoom together. The date for this study will be determined soon.
Matthew 16:18, 18:17
Acts 20:28 I
Corinthians 5:12, 14:4, 14:12, 14:26, 15:9
Galatians 1: 13
Colossians 1:18, 1:24
I think we had an interesting workshop on April 18 after church via Zoom. We talked about our church and what we might do to bring in people from the community. We want people to know where we are and who we are. How to best do this??
Many suggestions “boiled“ to the top during our session… Yard Sales, Craft Sales, Music programs (using our beautiful pavilion), evangelistic speakers - inviting the community to share with us, personal evangelizing by distributing information at the various shopping areas, and meeting and talking with people.
There seems to be no end to ways we can get the message out about our church - and about our love of Jesus Christ and our personal message of salvation to the community outside our walls. But are we doing it? When given the opportunity to witness - even to one other person, do we do it? Are there missed opportunities in your life that you can mention?
An important part of all the outreach that we propose to do is that we be prepared for the job. “Gird up our loins” with the gospel message. To that end, we will begin with the Bible study mentioned and we will move on from there.
I would also note that some of the things that we mentioned are age-appropriate for our membership - and that is good. But are they interesting or inviting to the “young people” that we hope to bring in ??
Consider all these things during the time between now and when we gather to study the scripture together. We cannot feed our friends if we are starving!
