Interim Pastor Candidate

Dear Members and Friends of Calvary Baptist Church,

As you are aware, with Pastor Mardy’s retirement, our Pulpit Committee has been hard at work in the search for a new Pastor to lead Calvary Baptist. I am excited to announce that the Committee has reached a milestone and come to a unanimous decision for an Interim Pastor. The candidate was presented to the Coordinating Board on August 24th and was also unanimously approved. Per our bylaws, the Interim Pastor must be approved by a properly called business meeting of the church. We will hold this meeting on September 20, 2020, immediately following the Drive-In Worship Service.

The candidate that will be presented is Reverend Cynthia Strosahl. Reverend Strosahl, or Pastor Cyndi as she likes to be called, has served the Lord for more than 35 years. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Southern New Hampshire University and a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School leading to her ordination with American Baptist Churches. She later earned a certificate in “The Fundamentals of Transitional Ministry.” This advanced work gave her the expertise to help dozens of churches, in need of an interim minister, redefine what is needed to enter into the next phase of their church’s life. Pastor Cyndi considers it a privilege to walk with each unique church during the interim. It has also allowed her the opportunity to serve many years as an on-call chaplain and an elementary substitute teacher during the “in-between” times of her career.

Pastor Cyndi and her husband David, a retired pastor, reside in Pottstown and have a son named Andrew, who is an attorney in Maine, and a daughter Sarah, who was just called to be pastor of Royersford Baptist Church. She has two grandchildren, Asher, who is 3 years old, and Ellie Rose, who is just three months old. They are the joy of her life.

As we are not ready to open the building due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will remain in the parking lot, utilizing the radio broadcast in place for weekly worship. Please plan to attend.

The Pulpit Committee can now turn their attention to the faithful search for a full-time pastor.

I want to personally thank you for your faithfulness to Our Lord and to Calvary during these last several months. I continue to uphold you in my prayers and I am confident that He will lead us through for His greater glory.
